Inexpensive Boston Fall Fun

Boston foliage
September is almost over and we've sadly reached the end of the summer weather too. Luckily, before the cold of winter hits us, we have the gorgeous Boston fall season to enjoy. If you are saving up to buy a home in Boston, MA you may have tightened the reins on your budget. There is still plenty to do around Boston that is cheap or free and lots of fun for all. Here's a list of fall fun that won't break the bank.

Fall Foliage. Soon the changing leaves will be all around us and one of the best spots to enjoy the changing colors is at the Arnold Arboretum. Enjoy a peaceful walk around Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum with your friends or family. The park is 281 acres and is open from sunup to sundown every day. 125 Arborway, Boston.

Free Museum passes. If you are a cardholder at the Boston Public Library you can enjoy free passes to several of Boston’s museums, including the New England Aquarium and Museum of Science.  The cooler weather is the perfect time to visit!

Beer. There are a few breweries in town, most famous being Samuel Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain. Take a free tour Monday through Saturday. If you aren't a fan of Sam Adams try Harpoon Brewery for a tour and beer tastings. The tour is $5 and tastings are free.

Go for a Bike Ride. Work off some of that beer and take in the sights of Boston from your bike along the Charles River and Esplanade or get your blood pumping with a solo ride around the city.

I hope you enjoy this fine fall season as much as I do. If you are looking to buy a home in Boston, please give a contact a Boston real estate agent. I can help you find the perfect home in a great neighborhood. I hope to speak with you soon!

Boston’s Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival

Boston jazz fest
Looking for something to do this weekend in Boston? Jazz and music lovers unite this weekend at Boston's biggest block party, The Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival, taking place this Saturday, September 24th, from noon to 6pm on Columbus Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Burke Street in the Boston's South End. This year's theme is Jazz: A Peace Supreme, featuring talented alumni artists and Grammy Award-winning musicians. The jazz festival is a perfect way to spend a long afternoon enjoying this beautiful Boston autumn weather.

For years the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival has delighted concert-goers with a bevy of jazz, Latin, blues and groove acts. The Boston community comes out to enjoy the music on three stages, the awesome food, and good times. The littlest concert-goers are also included with several kid’s activities including face painting, an instrument petting zoo, and KidsJam, led by Berklee's Education department. Due to construction there will be no Family Park this year.

Performances start Friday night with John Scofield’s Country for Old Men and continue throughout the weekend. Some of the featured performers this year are The Laszlo Gardony Sextet, Mili Bermejo Sextet, Billy Hart Trio, Dan Moretti and the Hammond Boys, Edmar Colon Quartet and many more. Come out and celebrate Boston's diversity through music, food, and more!

The First Step to Owning a Boston Home

The fall Boston real estate market is here and we still have a lot of buyers compared to the number of homes currently on the market.  This shortage of homes has led to a competitive marketplace where Boston home buyers often need to stand out. To stand out among the competition and to show you are a serious Boston home buyer it is a must to be pre-approved for a mortgage before starting your search. A pre-approval also brings with it the advantage of knowing your budget before you look so you don’t fall in love with a home you cannot afford.

One of the many advantages of working with a Boston real estate professional is that we have relationships with lenders who can to help you with this process. Once you have selected a lender, you will need to fill out their loan application and provide them with important information regarding your financial standing.

Freddie Mac describes the 4 Cs that help determine the amount you will be qualified to borrow:
  1. Capacity: Your current and future ability to make your payments
  2. Capital or cash reserves: The money, savings and investments you have that can be sold quickly for cash
  3. Collateral: The home, or type of home, that you would like to purchase
  4. Credit: Your history of paying bills and other debts on time
Getting pre-approved is one of many steps that will show home sellers that you are serious about buying, and it often helps speed up the process once your offer has been accepted.

When you are ready to purchase a home in Boston, contact an experienced Boston real estate agent. I am committed to providing you with the highest quality buyer service. When making the type of investment that buying a home requires, you deserve to have all the latest market information and the very best advice, both of which I can provide you with. I hope to speak with you soon!
