Sell Your Boston Home This Spring

There are only a few days left in February and before we know it spring will be here too. Along with the spring weather also comes the spring market – easily the busiest time of year in Boston, MA real estate. If you are looking to sell your Boston, MA home this spring, now is the time to start preparation. There is of course plenty to do to stage your home on the inside, but, don’t forget about the outside. Here is a list of several projects you can get started on soon.

Deck maintenance. Give your deck or patio a face-lift by cleaning and re-staining it. An oxygen-bleach wood cleaner does the job well and won’t harm your plants around the deck. After a good rinse and dry it’s ready to stain. We all know curb appeal is important and that goes for the back of the house too so don’t neglect your deck.

Paint patio furniture. Soon it will be warm enough for outdoor living and we want to remind your possible Boston, MA homebuyers of the possibilities of outdoor living for your home. Clean and arrange your furniture and re-paint any metal lawn furniture that needs it.

Shampoo the rugs and curtains. Every home deserves a good spring cleaning, especially if you have your home on the real estate market. Now is a great time to either have the pro’s tackle the job or rent a DIY carpet cleaner to do the job yourself.

If you are concerned about entering the market, have no fear – a Boston real estate agent is your best asset to accomplish your real estate goals and more. If you’d like to dramatically increase the chances that your home sells, you should list your home with a Boston expert. As a real estate professional, I am an expert in our area and will know exactly what needs to be done to get your home sold quickly and for top dollar. Make your home selling experience an educated one. Please contact a Boston real estate agent today to start the process.

Boston Winter Farmer’s Markets

Farmers markets are one of the easiest places to sample the tasty harvests of local Boston, MA farms. You'll find a diversity of foods fresh from the fields and meet the people who grow your meal. Plus, every dollar paid directly to a local grower is a dollar reinvested into Boston, MA communities. Many of us frequent the markets during the summer months, but there are plenty of options in the winter to continue to buy locally grown food. Here is a sampling of some of the farmer’s markets that are open this winter in the Boston area.

Somerville Winter Market. Open Saturdays from 9:30am - 2pm through April at The Armory, about 25 vendors are featured each week. In addition to local winter produce the market features local meat, fish, eggs, cheese, and baked goods. Most weeks there is also live music!

Dorchester Winter Market. Open Saturdays from 10am – 1pm through March 30th at 6 Norfolk Street, Dorchester Center. Each week features community organizations, children's activities, and special guests. Several local farms have a bounty of winter vegetables to offer along with local meat, seafood, cheese, and more.

Natick Winter Farmer Market. Open Saturdays from 9am – 1pm, year-round, at the Natick Common or the Common Street Spirituality Center in Natick. This market features several farms, local meat and poultry, wine, seafood, coffee/tea, breads/pastries, cookies, cheese, honey, and assorted pickled vegetables.

I hope you take the time to visit one or more of these markets and fill your pantry with locally grown, sustainable food. As your Boston, MA real estate agent I am always here should you have a question on a Boston, MA neighborhood such as South End, Fenway, Beacon Hill, or any other. I thoroughly enjoy getting prospective residents familiar with new neighborhoods and exposing them to the best of everything Boston has to offer. I hope to speak with you soon!

It's hard to believe with all the recent cold and snow, but, SPRING is just around the corner! There is no better time to focus on home renovation than springtime in Boston, MA. The weather is (hopefully) milder in spring so renovation doesn't seem so daunting. Many of us also have tax refunds that we can put to good use and invest back into our homes. Springtime may be your best bet for home renovation in your Boston, MA home. Not all home improvement projects are created equal, only some will boost your home’s value.  Here is a list from USA Today on popular home updates that are worth the money.
  1. Paint. The quickest and cheapest way to make a home fresh again.
  2. Backsplash. A relatively quick and inexpensive way to add some life to your kitchen.
  3. Granite. A favorite for many homebuyers.
  4. Attractive Cabinets. Shake cabinets specifically sell for higher than expected.
  5. Bathroom Vanity. The bathroom comes second to the most important room for buyers. A new vanity will instantly give a facelift to an aging room.
  6. Smart Doorbell. A doorbell with a camera is an inexpensive and interesting option.
  7. Functioning Fireplace. A definite positive for your home value.
  8. Energy Saving Thermostat. Save on energy bills with a thermostat that learns your habits and only heats/cools when you are home.
  9. Barn Doors. A trendy sliding door is a great updated look for your home.
  10. Solar Vents in Attic. Help your utility bills now and a nice seller bonus when its time to sell.
  11. Landscaping.  Don’t underestimate the exterior of your home. If you don’t have a green thumb, hire a professional.
I hope you can invest into your Boston home with one of these projects. When it comes time to sell your Boston Home and buy new please look for a professional, someone well-versed in all aspects of the sale process. From strategic marketing, and negotiation, a qualified professional is a home seller's best asset. Your satisfaction is the key to my success. Don't sell your home without the help of an experienced agent. Contact a Boston real estate agent when you are ready. I look forward to hearing from you!
