Boston, MA – What to do in all this snow?

snow
The sixth largest snowstorm in Boston, MA is in the books at 23.3 inches of new snow. The major snow just wrapped up and we are expected to get more snow in a few days. What is a Bostonian to do in this winter wonderland? There is plenty of fun to be had in Boston, MA and the surrounding communities.

Sledding. The snow has settled and its time to get out there and hit the slopes. Boston Magazine has a list of the best snow hills in Boston, MA. One of the best hills to hit is Flagstaff Hill in Boston Common. It offers plenty of space and is centrally located for you to get to without digging out your car. One of the most popular spots in Brookline is at Larz Anderson Park – it's hills of all sizes and inclines will delight all ages.

Snow Tubing. Once the streets are fully cleared and you are able to get your car out and about a trip to one of the local snow tubing hills is fun for all ages. Snow tubing is a jazzed-up version of the old snow saucers and requires no skill, like skiing. Local ski areas and tubing centers offer chutes, lifts and sometimes night tubing. Make sure to call ahead for conditions and tube rental availability. Visit Massachusetts has a full list of the available tubing in Boston, MA.

Stay in. Not feeling like braving the cold and snow, but, getting bored of hanging around the house? Apartment Therapy has a list of 10 things to do around the house when you're snowed in. Plenty of ideas for sprucing up your Boston, MA home – my favorite is rearranging a room. Once you make a change you might wonder how you lived with the room set up the way it was before.

Stay warm this winter while enjoying all that our fine city has to offer. Farmers markets are one of the easiest places to sample the tasty harvests of local Boston, MA farms. You'll find a diversity of foods fresh from the fields and meet the people who grow your meal. Plus, every dollar paid directly to a local grower is a dollar reinvested into Boston, MA communities. Many of us frequent the markets during the summer months, but, there are plenty of options in the winter to continue to buy locally grown food. Here are a sampling of some of the farmers markets that are open this winter in the Boston area.

Brighten your Boston Home

color swatches
As the winter drags on and we spend more and more time in our Boston homes we all can get a bit stir crazy. These short, dreary winter days have me craving more brightness in my life. Chances are you were timid with colors when decorating your Boston home. Join me in adding some color to your home and welcome in 2015 with a bang.

Add a pop of color. Going colorful does not mean you need brightly painted walls all around. One of the best ways to get a full kick of color from your bold palette choice is to layer it over a neutral wall color. Add a large splash of color in various elements of the room, such as pillows, vases, or an accent table.

Highlight an accent piece. On the contrary, you could go bold with one large statement piece, instead of small details. Choose a piece of furniture that has a style you love and highlight it with a bold color.

Go bold with an accent wall. 2014 was the year of the accent wall and this year it will take more than a tinted wall to grab attention. Go for a bold statement with jewel tones and add a striking accent wall to your home. Transform from wah to wow!

Don't forget the ceiling and floors. Often overlooked are the ceiling and the floor. While I don't recommend painting either, you can add to your color splash with a colorful chandelier or an eye-catching rug.

If you are ready for a new canvas and are prepping your Boston home to sell then talk to a professional! As a Boston, MA Real Estate Agent I am well versed in what it takes to get the job done. Please contact a Boston, MA Real Estate agent and I can point you in the right direction. I look forward to hearing from you!
